FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY’S SCHOOL OF ACCOUNTING
STUDENTS RANK SEVENTH NATIONWIDE ON
CPA EXAM PERFORMANCE

In a report issued by the NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) students from the FAU College of Business School of Accounting ranked seventh among all colleges and universities nationwide based on the percentage of candidates passing all four subjects of the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam. The “Top-10” list in the report “…recognizes those schools that have been ranked highly (or received honorable mention) four or more times during the past 10 years (20

[CPA] examinations) from 1991 to 2000. These rankings were based upon percentages of first-time candidates passing all subjects taken.” Students from FAU’s School of Accounting tied for seventh place with such notable schools as the University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Florida, and Northern Illinois University.

“The School of Accounting has been building a stellar reputation, step by step, over the past ten years,” said Dr. Bruce Mallen, dean of the FAU College of Business. “This outstanding ranking is the result of much hard work and effort by the faculty, staff, and students, and we are very proud to be ranked seventh among all schools.”

Dr. Carl Borgia, director of the School of Accounting, noted that this is not the first time that the College of Business Accounting students have been recognized for outstanding performance. Jennifer Wroblewski, a graduate of the School of Accounting in December of 2,000, was the recipient of the Florida Atlantic University Kenneth R. Williams Leadership Award at the spring Commencement Ceremony. In 1998 Mindy Tyson placed first in the nation in the CPA exams and was awarded the Gold Medal.
